Schack/Søndergård Soulmates unites four of the country’s most prominent musicians in an explosive, groove-heavy Hammond quartet. Alto saxophonist Jens Søndergaard—an institution in Danish jazz—plays with a power, warmth, and authority that only grows stronger with the years. His tone brings to mind Cannonball Adderley and 60s soul jazz, yet carries his own distinct personal touch.

Alongside him is Hammond organist Martin Schack, whose deep understanding of blues, gospel, and organ jazz creates a massive, vibrating foundation. His playing draws on legendary Lee Morgan and Adderley recordings, propelling the music forward with both strength and elegance.

The rhythm section is truly world-class: Cuban percussion master Eliel Lazo delivers his signature, high-voltage grooves that pull the music toward Afro-Cuban, soul, and funk. Drummer Niclas Campagnol—known for his virtuoso drive and technical precision—adds an explosive, precise pulse that lifts the music to an intense level.

The evening offers soul jazz, blues, and organ classics with an energy level that guarantees big smiles, massive swing, and an audience pulled directly into the music’s warm, raw pulse.
