Stefan Pasborg has been one of the most prominent Danish drummers over the last 25 years, and tonight he returns to his roots at La Fontaine, where he has performed countless concerts. Together with virtuoso pianist Jacob Christoffersen, he has formed the group “Inside Straight” specifically for this occasion.
The quartet also includes bassist Thomas Fonnesbæk and saxophonist Claus Waidtløw—both musicians of the highest international caliber. The music is rooted in the classic hard bop and soul jazz traditions, with references to Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Cannonball Adderley, and Lee Morgan. An evening of powerful groove, intense energy, and uncompromising interplay from some of the country’s absolute best musicians.

    Claus Waidtløw is one of Denmark’s most prominent saxophonists, composers, and arrangers on the modern jazz scene. With a clear tone and musicality that ranges from the intense to the lyrical, he has established himself as a true master of contemporary post-bop. Waidtløw is known for his work as a soloist, leader of his own award-winning Orchestra, and as a saxophonist in the Klüvers Big Band. His compositions are sophisticated and swinging, making him a central figure in Danish big band and ensemble jazz.

    Jacob Christoffersen belongs to the absolute elite of Danish jazz pianists. He is renowned for his phenomenal technique and a rare ability to combine complexity with deeply melodic and lyrical qualities. As a recipient of the prestigious Ben Webster Prize, he has made his mark on the scene for decades—both as a leader of his own ensembles and as the preferred pianist for icons like Curtis Stigers and Sanne Salomonsen. Jacob’s playing is characterized by an elegant lightness and harmonic brilliance that consistently elevates the music to an international level.

With numerous awards to his name, including several Danish Music Awards, he is renowned for his incredible energy, virtuoso playing, and a unique ability to bridge genres.     Thomas Fonnesbæk is an internationally acclaimed Danish double bassist, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading jazz bassists. He is famous for his virtuoso technique, melodic soloing, and intense musical communication, particularly in duo settings with stars like Enrico Pieranunzi. Fonnesbæk has performed with legends such as Lars Jansson and Monty Alexander. His ability to elevate the bass from a rhythmic instrument to an equal solo voice has secured him a unique position on the global jazz scene.
