During the jazz festival, some of Copenhagen’s strongest musicians gather every night at La Fontaine for a jam session. Here, the framework is open, and the music arises in the moment—with spontaneity, energy, and interplay at the center.
The jam is led by Claus Waidtløw, who, with his rock-solid groove and extensive experience, sets the direction for the evening.

Claus Waidtløw is one of Denmark’s most prominent saxophonists, composers, and arrangers on the modern jazz scene. With a clear tone and musicality that ranges from the intense to the lyrical, he has established himself as a true master of contemporary post-bop. Waidtløw is known for his work as a soloist, leader of his own award-winning Orchestra, and as a saxophonist in the Klüvers Big Band. His compositions are sophisticated and swinging, making him a central figure in Danish big band and ensemble jazz.
Bass
Daniel Franck is one of Scandinavia’s most sought-after and respected jazz bassists. Originally from Sweden, but for years a cornerstone of the Copenhagen jazz scene, Franck is known for his big, warm sound and unwavering swing. Deeply rooted in the hard bop tradition, he has toured and recorded with international stars such as Doug Raney, Al Foster, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. His playing is synonymous with rhythmic authority and melodic command.
Drums
Jacob Lindberg is a dynamic Danish drummer and percussionist who is a staple of the Danish jazz and fusion scene. Educated at the Conservatory, he is known for his energetic and versatile playing, moving effortlessly from straight-ahead jazz to funk and experimental music. Lindberg has participated in a wide array of projects, delivering a solid swing and rhythmic depth that elevates any constellation.
