Alice Carreri/Martin Schack Quartet
Saturday den 13. December kl. 21:00 - 01:00
Alice Carreri showcases three of the best Danish jazz musicians in an intimate setting, ideal for La Fontaine. The delightful horn arrangements enhance the sometimes simplistic pop songs from 1960s Italy, while the French chansons are revitalized and gain a modern charm through Alice’s reinterpretations. Don’t miss this musical experience!
Line-up
Vocal
Alice Carreri is a Danish jazz singer, known for her warm, deep vocals and authentic expression that draws on the Golden Age of Jazz. With a background in both Copenhagen and New York, she has become a recognized voice in the Nordic region, interpreting standards and her own compositions with a rare sensitivity and musicality. Carreri is a storyteller; her vocal delivery has an intimate and compelling quality that conveys the essence of the lyrics and creates a deep connection with the listener.
Drums
Espen Laub is a highly versatile and respected Danish drummer who moves effortlessly between the demanding requirements of jazz, pop, and rock. He is known for his technical precision, dynamic energy, and extensive studio and live work with some of Denmark’s biggest pop acts (including L.I.G.A. and Shaka Loveless). Laub is equally a potent force on the jazz scene, where his broad experience makes him a sought-after musician who consistently delivers a solid, stylistically clean drive.
Trumpet
Jesper Riis is one of Denmark’s leading trumpeters, arrangers, and composers, particularly recognized for his work with big bands and large ensembles. As the Chief Conductor of The Orchestra and a composer for the Danish Radio Big Band, he has forged a sophisticated, modern expression of orchestral jazz. Riis possesses a rare ability to combine technical composition with a deep jazz sensibility, which has led to collaborations with stars like John Scofield. He is a central figure in contemporary Danish music.
Hammond organ
Martin Schack is a versatile and acclaimed Danish pianist and organist, moving fluently between neo-bop, mainstream jazz, and re-interpretations of the Danish songbook. He has an extensive international career, releasing albums on Storyville Records, notably featuring Tom Harrell. Schack is also a prominent cultural figure, serving as a lecturer at the Conservatory of Music, as the owner of the venue Termansens, and as the founder of the Ribe Jazz Festival.
