Line-up
Saxophone
Anders Gaardmand is a versatile and respected Danish saxophonist (tenor and baritone) who has left a solid mark on both the Danish and American music scenes. After spending ten years in New York playing with legends like Etta James and Dr. John, he returned home with a unique, blues-soaked, and funky sound. He is a long-time member of the Danish Radio Big Band and a frequent bandleader at venues like La Fontaine, delivering energetic jazz with soul.
Saxophone
Christina von Bülow is one of Danish jazz’s most beloved and sublime saxophonists. With her warm, airy tone on alto saxophone and flute, she has created a unique, instantly recognizable sonic signature that pays homage to cool jazz legends like Lee Konitz (with whom she studied) and Stan Getz. Her playing is defined by an extraordinary melodic instinct, a deep passion for jazz elegance, and an understated poetic touch that speaks straight to the heart. An award-winning bandleader with multiple Danish Music Awards, she moves effortlessly between classic American standards, bossa nova, and Nordic lyricism. When Christina von Bülow takes the stage at La Fontaine, audiences enjoy an evening of intimate beauty, lyrical warmth, and effortless swing.
Drums
Frands Rifbjerg is one of the most respected and distinctive drummers in Danish jazz. With a style that is both deeply rooted in tradition and uncompromisingly modern, he has for decades been an indispensable collaborator for the very best—from Carsten Dahl to international soloists. He is renowned for his phenomenal ability to “color” the music and for a touch that encompasses everything from explosive energy to the most delicate, lyrical responsiveness. As a recipient of the prestigious Ben Webster Prize, Rifbjerg has cemented his status as a musician who consistently prioritizes musical presence and storytelling over technical display.
Hammond organ
Kjeld Lauritsen is an institution in Danish jazz. With his massive Hammond organ and the legendary rotating Leslie speakers, he creates a sound that is raw, warm, and deeply swinging. He is renowned for his incredible footwork on the bass pedals and his mastery of everything from blues and soul-jazz to complex modern compositions. For decades, Kjeld has been a driving force on the scene—both as a leader of his own popular groups and as a generous collaborator for Danish and international soloists alike. A concert with Kjeld Lauritsen is a guarantee of musical brilliance and infectious joy.
