Errol Garner was one of the true giants among American jazz pianists and a naturally gifted interpreter of melody. He also serves as the foundation for the trio Gunde on Garner, who draw inspiration from the master’s unique way of interpreting music. By following in Garner’s footsteps and focusing on the “good melody”—regardless of whether it originates from jazz, rock, or pop—Gunde On Garner achieves an expression the master himself might have had if he were alive today. Bonus info: Errol Garner used to drop by La Fontaine late at night after his gigs at Tivoli’s Glassalen to jam with bassist Hugo Rasmussen.
