Over the past 50 years, La Fontaine has hosted numerous jazz musicians. Every Sunday, Copenhagen’s top musicians gather at La Fontaine for a jam session. And maybe some of the big-stage stars will show up and join in. Many jazz legends have played on La Fontaine’s small ‘after-hours’ stage, including Ben Webster, Wynton Marsalis, and Lady Gaga.
This Sunday, saxophonist Jan Harbeck will be in charge of the music throughout the evening.
Anything can happen during a jazz performance, and La Fontaine is the perfect place to experience it.

Ida Hvid is one of Denmark’s most respected double bassists and a central figure in the country’s traditional jazz and mainstream environment. She is known for her deep roots in jazz history, her unwavering, swinging drive, and her beautiful tone. With an active career as both a bandleader and a sought-after collaborator (including Christina von Bülow and Alex Riel), Hvid cements her position as one of the most important rhythmic forces in modern Danish jazz.

Jan Harbeck is one of Denmark’s most acclaimed tenor saxophonists and an inescapable figure on the Danish jazz scene. Harbeck is known for his deep, warm tone and an intensely lyrical expression that bridges the golden era of swing with the contemporary sound. With his award-winning Jan Harbeck Quartet—honored with a Danish Music Award for Jazz Release of the Year—he delivers genuine, melodic, and deeply swinging jazz that appeals to both new listeners and traditional purists. Janus Templeton is an acclaimed Danish drummer, celebrated for his intuitive sense of interaction and collective improvisation.
