Jamsession – Rasmus Sørensen, Nikolaj Bangsgaard & Rune Fog-Nielsen
Sunday den 19. April kl. 9:00 pm - 1:00 am
Over the past 50 years, La Fontaine has hosted numerous jazz musicians. Every Sunday, Copenhagen’s top musicians gather at La Fontaine for a jam session. And maybe some of the big-stage stars will show up and join in. Many jazz legends have played on La Fontaine’s small ‘after-hours’ stage, including Ben Webster, Wynton Marsalis, and Lady Gaga.
This Sunday, Rasmus Sørensen takes the lead, curating the music throughout the night.
Anything can happen during a jazz performance, and La Fontaine is the perfect place to experience it.
Line-up
Drums
Nikolaj Bangsgaard is one of the most exciting and rapidly rising drummers on the contemporary Danish jazz scene. A recipient of prestigious awards and grants, he has quickly established himself as a musician with a maturity and technical brilliance that far exceeds his years. Bangsgaard is renowned for his highly responsive and inventive playing, capable of being both subtly supportive and explosively driving. As a modern rhythmist, he brings fresh energy and new perspectives to every musical collaboration he joins.
Piano
Rasmus Sørensen, named Danish Jazz Musician of the Year 2024, moved to New York in 2018 as the first Dane ever to receive a full scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music. He quickly established himself there as one of the city’s most sought-after pianists. Today, Rasmus tours extensively across Europe with his trio and has established himself as an internationally recognized pianist and composer.
Bass
Rune Fog-Nielsen is a rising Danish jazz bassist who has rapidly established himself as a central figure among the new generation of Danish jazz musicians. Despite his young age, Fog-Nielsen has already distinguished himself as a “super-talent” and one of Denmark’s future bass stars. He is known for his deep, melodic double bass playing and his respect for the jazz tradition, particularly within hard bop. His collaborations with acclaimed names such as Thomas Franck, Christina von Bülow, and international stars testify to his recognized talent on the Scandinavian jazz scene.
