In recent years, Kira Martini has established herself as one of the most powerful voices on the Danish jazz scene, earning a place among the country’s leading vocalists. Her warm, honest vocals and immense musicianship create an intense and intimate concert experience.
Tonight, she performs with a strong quartet, backed by a grooving rhythm section featuring Mads Søndergaard on organ and Morten Ærø on drums. Joining them as a special guest is star saxophonist Jakob Dinesen, whose characteristic playing adds both depth and energy to the music.
The repertoire moves freely between jazz, soul, and related genres, delivered with personality, virtuosity, and powerful interplay.

Jakob Dinesen – affectionately known as “Dino” – is a true icon of Danish jazz. With his large, warm tone and a deep, soulful blues feeling, he has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. Known for his immense musical curiosity, his journey has taken him from intimate jazz clubs in Copenhagen to collaborations with stars in New York, Africa, and Cuba. A recipient of numerous accolades, including three Danish Music Awards, he masters everything from raw, energetic grooves to the most delicate ballads. A concert with Jakob Dinesen is always an intense experience, where the saxophone becomes a direct extension of his personality and his profound musical heart.
Vocal
Kira Martini is a Danish-Swedish jazz vocalist and songwriter known for her warm and personal vocals, which explore the intersection of jazz, folk, soul, and Brazilian rhythms. Her music and lyrics revolve around themes of transformation, relationships, and inner landscapes, establishing her as one of the most prominent voices on the Scandinavian jazz scene. Her latest release is the album Open Wide on Storyville Records—a genre-defying and lyrical work inspired by artists such as Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake. As a live performer, Martini is renowned for her presence and powerful synergy with Denmark’s leading jazz musicians, ranging from intimate concerts to dynamic ensemble experiences. In 2023, she received the Palæ Bar Jazz Award for her artistic contribution to Danish jazz.
Organ, Piano
Mads Søndergaard is a Danish jazz pianist and organist known for his versatile and melodically strong playing, which moves between Nordic lyricism, American jazz tradition, and soulful Hammond grooves. A graduate of The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, he has made a name for himself as both a soloist and sideman on the Danish jazz scene, performing regularly at events such as the Copenhagen Jazz Festival. With releases like Art Roho serving Mads Søndergaard, he demonstrates a mature and personal approach that combines improvisation, storytelling, and technical finesse. Søndergaard is a captivating live performer who unites tradition and contemporary jazz in a warm, organic expression.
Drums
Morten Ærø is one of the most versatile drummers on the Danish music scene, renowned for his ability to navigate effortlessly between jazz, pop, and electronic experimentation. With a background from both the prestigious Berklee College of Music and the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, he has developed a style that combines technical virtuosity with a deep understanding of texture and sound. Morten is a preferred collaborator for artists like Mads Langer and in numerous jazz ensembles, where his responsive and creative drumming consistently adds a modern edge and an unwavering pulse. He is a musician who masters both the subtle and the powerful with equal authority.
