Ayi Solomon is a legendary figure on the Scandinavian and international world music and jazz scenes. Originally from Ghana, he has enriched the Nordic cultural landscape for decades with his extraordinary rhythmic fluency, deep roots in West African traditions, and infectious, vibrant musical joy. Utilizing a dazzling array of traditional percussion instruments—from djembe and talking drum to shekere and congas—he provides an organic, pulsating heartbeat to any musical ensemble. Mads is renowned for his incredibly responsive playing and his ability to always play “for the music,” leading to long-standing roles in bands like the Mike Andersen Band and the Marie Key Band. With a background from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, he combines technical precision with an organic spirit that provides both depth and drive.
