  • Rasmus Sørensen quartet

    We are thrilled to welcome one of the leading lights of the new generation of Danish jazz, pianist Rasmus Sørensen, to La Fontaine. Tonight, he showcases his unique blend of modern jazz and tradition, joined by three world-class international musicians.

    This evening, pianist Rasmus Sørensen brings a world-class international quartet featuring double bassist Jon Henriksson, one of Sweden’s most talked-about jazz musicians; drummer Andreu Pitarch Mach, who is based in Barcelona but met Rasmus in New York; and the Hungarian tenor saxophonist Gabor Bolla, who has toured extensively across Europe with several jazz legends and whose musicianship always blows the audience away. For the concert at La Fontaine, they will perform some of their favorite jazz standards alongside a few original compositions.

And maybe some of the big-stage stars will show up and join in. Many jazz legends have played on La Fontaine’s small ‘after-hours’ stage, including Ben Webster, Wynton Marsalis, and Lady Gaga.

    This Sunday, saxophonist Jan Harbeck will be in charge of the music throughout the evening.

  • Jacob Fischer Quartet feat. Zier Romme Larsen

    Guitarist Jacob Fischer is joined this time by a superb, hard-swinging quartet of rising stars currently making waves on the jazz scene. Together, they will perform a mix of carefully selected jazz classics in fresh arrangements and original compositions.

    Most will recognize Jacob Fischer from his long tenure with Svend Asmussen or his thousands of performances alongside Finn Ziegler and Hugo Rasmussen. Beyond his work as a sideman, he is a prolific bandleader in his own right, frequently mentoring and performing with the brightest young talents on the scene.

    Pianist Zier Romme Larsen delivers a truly extraordinary performance, blending energetic drive with a sensitive touch that clearly draws inspiration from Oscar Peterson. Zier was awarded the Ben Webster Prize in 2023, following in the footsteps of Fischer, who received the same honor in 1996.

    Bassist Matthias Petri, known for his virtuoso technique and rock-solid melodicism, stands as one of the most prominent young bassists on the scene today. Rounding out the quartet is Jacob Lindberg, a young drummer possessing a fantastic sense of swing and drive—the latest standout addition to Danish jazz arriving from Sweden.

    In Groove Unity, saxophonist Claus Waidtløw and pianist Henrik Gunde cultivate the funkier, groovier side of jazz. Drawing on saxophonist Eddie Harris’ soul-jazz repertoire from the ’70s—and backed by a hard-swinging rhythm section—a groovy jazz night is guaranteed at La Fontaine when Waidtløw and Gunde take the stage.

    An evening of Bossa Nova, Samba, and Choro… Three top Danish musicians are joined by a Brazilian drumming wizard in a celebration of Brazilian music.     In recent years, drummer Snorre Kirk has been a regular guest at international jazz clubs and festivals, making a name for himself alongside some of Scandinavia’s most prominent artists, as well as international greats such as Diane Schuur, Stephen Riley, and Eric Reed. As a bandleader, he has managed to make his orchestra one of the most sought-after both at home and abroad in record time, with eight award-winning releases to his name and performances at some of the world’s leading jazz festivals across Europe, the USA, and Asia.     For more than 25 years, Stefan Pasborg has been one of Denmark’s leading drummers. Now he returns to his roots at La Fontaine, where he played countless concerts throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
    Together with the outstanding pianist Jacob Christoffersen, he has assembled the group “Inside Straight” exclusively for La Fontaine. The band is completed by top-tier musicians Thomas Fonnesbæk on bass and Claus Waidtløw on saxophones.     Singer and saxophonist Mads Mathias is Denmark’s leading male jazz vocalist—a personal and fresh take on the modern jazz crooner in the tradition of Sinatra, Nat ‘King’ Cole, and Tony Bennett, while also being an outstanding scat singer. His charismatic stage presence has made him a highly sought-after soloist, and he is steadily building a name for himself abroad, particularly in the UK.
