Nikolaj Hess trio
It is a great pleasure to present one of Denmark’s greatest pianists, Nikolaj Hess. He is an incredibly versatile musician, mastering both classic jazz and related genres. In addition to his many stays in New York, he is well-known for his dedication to African music. Together with Morten Ankarfeldt and Janus Templeton, they will present “jazz and beyond,” as the saying goes.

Jacob Fischer Quartet feat. Zier Romme Larsen
Guitarist Jacob Fischer presents a superb, hard-swinging quartet featuring some of the immense young talents currently taking the jazz scene by storm. Together, they will dive into carefully selected jazz classics in fresh arrangements alongside their own original compositions.
Most will recognize Jacob Fischer from his long tenure with Svend Asmussen or his thousands of performances alongside Finn Ziegler and Hugo Rasmussen. Beyond his work as a sideman, he is a prolific bandleader in his own right, frequently mentoring and performing with the brightest young talents on the scene.
Pianist Zier Romme Larsen’s playing, both energetic and sensitive with Oscar Peterson as a clear inspiration, is truly an extraordinary experience. He is a recipient of the 2023 Ben Webster Prize, an honor Fischer himself received in 1996.
With his virtuoso, melodic, and rock-solid playing, bassist Matthias Petri is one of the most prominent young bassists in the country. The quartet is completed by Jacob Lindberg, a very young drummer with a fantastic swing and drive—the latest addition to Danish Jazz from Sweden.

Pianist Rasmus Sørensen returns to La Fontaine this evening with a very special trio. He is joined by Icelandic trumpeter Ari Bragi Kárason—known for his solo projects as well as his work with Mezzoforte and the DR Big Band—and New York-based bassist Ben Tiberio, who has performed with a multitude of jazz’s biggest names and toured with the Ari Hoenig Trio, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, Joel Ross, and others. Michael Bladt is a 54-year-old saxophonist from Aarhus who moves effortlessly through a sea of diverse genres, from pop to advanced modern jazz. His eminent saxophone playing has made him a beloved soloist on the Danish music scene. In 2025, he released the album Shapeshifter with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, which received a 6-star review in the magazine All That and earned a nomination for Composer of the Year at the DMA Jazz 2025.

Errol Garner was one of the true giants among American jazz pianists and a naturally gifted interpreter of melody. He also serves as the foundation for the trio Gunde on Garner, who draw inspiration from the master’s unique way of interpreting music. By following in Garner’s footsteps and focusing on the “good melody”—regardless of whether it originates from jazz, rock, or pop—Gunde On Garner achieves an expression the master himself might have had if he were alive today. Bonus info: Errol Garner used to drop by La Fontaine late at night after his gigs at Tivoli’s Glassalen to jam with bassist Hugo Rasmussen. Word has it he was quite fond of one of the ladies behind the bar, though she reportedly ignored him all week.
